About Robyn

Robyn

I am excited to be starting my journey as a private practice Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health with Clear Perspectives Counseling Associates.

For the last 14 years, I have enjoyed working with children, adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, and families in tackling the difficulties which life presents.  I have worked with many individuals throughout the Brookings community in addition to working collaboratively with other organizations.  I was the mental health provider for the Brookings County Drug Court and DUI Court teams, I have been an EAP provider for the Brookings’ 3M plant, I was an on-call crisis response provider during my 10 years with a community mental health center (providing QMHP assessments when needed), and I have worked collaboratively with the area school systems along with the Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Plains.  I have taught as an adjunct instructor, for the SDSU School of Education, Counseling and Human Development for the past five years, with my primary class being Family Resiliency.

I am a solution-focused therapist with additional training and experience in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is an integrative evidence-based psychotherapy approach proven to be effective in treating trauma.  In addition, I have completed multiple trainings over the years focused on continued skill development and professional growth over a wide range of topics.  I take a personalized approach to providing services with a focus on individual needs and strengths while providing compassion and understanding.

My areas of expertise include working with trauma, loss/grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions, behavioral problems, autism spectrum, and much more.

I am a graduate of South Dakota State University for both my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my master’s degree in Counseling with the Agency Mental Health emphasis.

I hold the status of a Licensed Professional Counselor - Mental Health, which is the highest level of licensure for a counselor in the state of South Dakota.  In addition, I hold the designation of a QMHP and am also a member of the EMDR International Association.
