About Alicia

Alicia Sterud, MA, LPC-MH

Alicia Sterud is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health who maintains a private practice in Brookings, SD. Alicia has about 20 years of clinical experience in treating adolescents, adults, and families through providing individual, couples, group, and family therapy. Alicia practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, and a number of other treatment approaches depending on the client's needs and situation. Alicia trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy and is a certified Brainspotting therapist to treat adverse life experiences, trauma, and PTSD. Alicia also has extensive experience working with co-occurring disorders; the presence of both a mental health and a substance-use disorders.

Alicia works with a wide range of client populations experiencing issues including, but not limited to: Anxiety, Depression, Mood disorders, Life Stage Changes, Adjustment issues, Relationship problems, Behavior issues, Substance Abuse and recovery, Grief, Trauma, Parenting and Discipline, Educational/vocational concerns, and more.

Education: Alicia has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL and a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University in Tampa, FL. Alicia is licensed by the State of South Dakota as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
